Description
Rubella, also known as German measles, is an infection caused by the rubella virus in the Rubivirus genus, the Togaviridae family of +ssRNA viruses. Congenital rubella syndrome can occur in a developing baby when the mother is infected early in pregnancy. The virus was first isolated in 1962.
