KEGG   ENZYME: 1.14.11.70
Entry
EC 1.14.11.70               Enzyme
Name
7-deoxycylindrospermopsin hydroxylase;
cyrI (gene name)
Class
Oxidoreductases;
Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen;
With 2-oxoglutarate as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen into each donor
Sysname
7-deoxycylindrospermopsin,2-oxoglutarate:oxygen oxidoreductase (7-hydroxylating)
Reaction(IUBMB)
(1) 7-deoxycylindrospermopsin + 2-oxoglutarate + O2 = cylindrospermopsin + succinate + CO2 [RN:R12509];
(2) 7-deoxycylindrospermopsin + 2-oxoglutarate + O2 = 7-epi-cylindrospermopsin + succinate + CO2 [RN:R12510]
Reaction(KEGG)
R12509 R12510
Substrate
7-deoxycylindrospermopsin [CPD:C22221];
2-oxoglutarate [CPD:C00026];
O2 [CPD:C00007]
Product
cylindrospermopsin [CPD:C19999];
succinate [CPD:C00042];
CO2 [CPD:C00011];
7-epi-cylindrospermopsin [CPD:C22222]
Comment
Requires iron(II). The enzyme, found in some cyanobacterial species, catalyses the last step in the biosynthesis of the toxins cylindrospermopsin and 7-epi-cylindrospermopsin. The ratio of the two products differs among different strains.
